Friendly staff and good facilities. Has an extremely active Magic the Gathering scene, as well as a few regular D&D groups.
War gaming is also present here, mostly Warhammer 40k, but there are tables to suit most popular games systems. Terrain is laid out for you, and staff do offer to add or remove some as the customer wishes. Good quality gaming mats are also provided for you.
The shop has full shelves, and it’s possible to order in Games Workshop products with a generous discount. Other makers are available on site, but I’m not massively familiar with them.
Loses some points, but it’s not doom and gloom.
- Being in a train arch, the sound of passing carriages can make it hard to hear conversation sometimes, but if you’re a regular you may not even realise the sound anymore.
- Wargaming tables don’t have much space around them. Chairs are provided to put bags and books but it’s far from ideal. You’ll be standing butt to butt with other gamers on some days.
- Probably the worst point; the loo - it is kept clean so the toilet itself is not the issue. However, the door does not have any closing mechanism and the reek can then waft over the war gaming tables without mercy. Patrons sometimes forget to close the door after they are finished and so the misery is shared to all in attendance. Could be a nod to Nurgle by a fan...
Overall, a nice play to play a few games with friends, and then pick up new pieces for the next time you wish to play.
Very good for magic, miniatures gaming. There's a reasonable selection of board games. I wouldn't go to purchase something on an event day unless participating as it's incredibly busy and there is little space to move and the staff are all very busy. It's not too far from Waterloo station though so its a good location.
My first Friday Night Magic was in Dark Sphere and it was really good! It's well organised despite the fact that the place is really packed on Friday nights. My friends who play Magic for a long time all recommend Dark Sphere as one of the best local game shops in London. Worth paying a visit!
Had a lot of fun playing some Magic the other day. Good choice of games and accessories. Place isn’t located on any of the main streets but it is very easy to get to from Lambeth North Tube Station. If you’re looking for place or people to enjoy tabletop games with - visit Dark Sphere
Excellent gamestore with a wide variety of games, great open space for playing, friendly and helpful staff and regulars. People still keep Warhammer Fantasy alive here.
Excellent little independent games store. Prices are good and have a good selection of models, paints, brushes and the like from a range of different companies. Staff are knowledgeable and friendly.
I believe they also do a good amount of live gaming in store, but am not local so never had the chance to participate.
Great shop lots of options. You can play your own card games and table tops here very cheaply and they also run a tonne of tournaments. Most of he staff are very pleasant. One of the managers though is a bit cold and has put some of my friends off spending more time here .
I stumbled upon this place while in London for 2 days. It is spectacular - a real gaming store. TON of space for gaming - I saw numerous tables full of people playing war games, role playing games, card games, and board games. Their inventory was also superb - all the games you could need, plus tons of accessories, dice, miniatures, terrain, etc.
The staff were very friendly - I introduced myself as a tourist from Chicago and they were so cool. I even crashed a D&D game that people were playing - again, introducing myself. They welcomed me to sit down and watch. Very friendly people. Great place!
